Kreativ Blogger award

 

I am really flattered by being rewarded with Kreativ Blogger award by Mariano alias Bastiano. He himself makes such great notebooks from recycled materials. Thank you so much for this acknowledgement.

The rule is that the ones receiving this reward will write on what inspires them. It turns out not to be an easy task – I haven’t really thought of it. Making jewellery is not something I plan or think rationally on. However, let me try put it into words.

1. Colours. I love colours, shades of colours, combinations. My jewellery is usually quite monochromatic – each piece has its own colour. But it has to have a colour!  The colour of beads and polymer clay is one of the main qualities of my jewellery, the starting point of my creations and the trigger of fantasy. First there is a bead, then the idea comes. Not vice versa. I have my own colours I usually use. Trying to make something out of that range is difficult.

2. New techniques. I like to create new designs and using new materials or using old ones in a new way. I get excited about different techniques that are not always meant to create jewellery but something else. Fabrics, laces, crochet, embroidery. Jewellery is what I think of looking at any kind of handicraft or art. I would like to learn more and experiment more.

3. Others’ creation is something that always inspires and widens my imagination. It helps to get out of the usual mindset and see possibilities and realise the endlessness of them. However, plagiarism is not what I like. I’m not even able to plagiarise – imitation or following instructions is not for me. Jewellery lives its own life, they come into being step by step. I seldom know what I will end up with.

It seems that I do jewellery just for jewellery, for their colour, shapes and beauty. I am not giving messages, I am not expressing anything. At least consciously. I don’t know where the motives, colours and shapes come from.
